"Change happens through movement and movement heals." ~ Joseph Pilates
Pilates is a form of exercise that focuses on strengthening the core muscles, improving posture, and increasing flexibility. It involves a series of controlled movements that challenge and strengthen the body while also promoting relaxation and mindfulness.
Its benefits include:
My mixed ability classes incorporate a mixture classical techniques with more contemporary approaches, drawing on the expertise of Joseph Pilates who first pioneered the method over 80 years ago.
Group classes are small and friendly, with no more than 8 people in each session. They are mat based and will sometimes also incorporate small equipment such as balls and resistance bands.
Group classes are 50 minutes long and are held on Tuesday evenings in Knebworth and Thursday and Friday mornings at Welwyn.
All classes are mixed ability with progressions and modifications offered so that you can work at the level that suits you best.
All you need is your mat.
I am delighted to now be offering a class that brings Pilates to those who may have mobility issues or may be recovering from an injury or surgery.
This gentle class is 50 minutes long and all movements are done either sitting or standing.
The class takes a wide selection of moves from the full repertoire and adapts them for safe and accessible participation for all.
Please note that whilst no exercises are done on the floor clients are asked to bring a mat as it is used to stabilise their chair.

Welwyn Pilates is run by me, Angie Dehadray and my journey into the world of Pilates began a decade ago, to help me recover my mobility following reconstructive
breast cancer surgery.
In 2022, after over decade of working with children in primary education, I took my life in a different direction and gained my matwork Pilates instructor qualification under the guidance of Joanne Cobbe of JPilates, a leading educator in the industry. Under Joanne's expert tuition, I have expanded my expertise, completing specialised training in barre, reformer, spine corrector and ladder barrels.
My commitment to my professional growth doesn't stop there; I am continuimg to work with Jo to achieve full certification incorporating Wunda Chair and
Tower / Cadillac
I am passionate about the fact that Pilates is for everybody.
My enthusiasm for inclusive Pilates practice also led me to undertake the APPI matwork conversion course, a physiotherapy-led approach to Pilates perfect individuals with injuries or disabilities.
I am enhanced DBS checked and trained to Level 2 Safeguarding for children and vulnerable adults.
